After months of anticipation, Apple is ready to release its new AI platform, Apple Intelligence. The official launch is set for next week through the public versions of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1. While Apple hasn't given an exact date, many expect it to be Monday, marking an important update for users around the world.

Until now, only developers using beta versions could access Apple Intelligence features like integrated writing tools, image cleanup, article summarization, and a new Siri typing input.

With the public release coming soon, Apple is also rolling out developer versions of iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2. These updates include new features like Genmoji, Image Playground, Visual Intelligence, Image Wand, and ChatGPT integration.

Compatibility and Opt-in Process

Not every Apple device will support these features. Apple Intelligence will only work on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, all iPhone 16 models, iPads with the A17 Pro chip, and Macs with an M1 processor or later. After updating, users must opt in to Apple Intelligence during setup or through Settings. This opt-in process places users on a "waitlist," which is usually fulfilled within a few hours. This waitlist helps Apple manage server capacity, as some AI tasks need off-device processing.

Bypassing the Waitlist for Early Access

Want early access to Apple Intelligence? You can bypass the waitlist by installing the iOS 18.1 Release Candidate (RC) beta. Owners of compatible devices can join the waitlist before the official release, getting early access without the usual bugs found in earlier beta versions.

To join, simply go to Settings and select Apple Intelligence & Siri to sign up. While the Release Candidate is almost the same as the upcoming public release, users should be aware that beta software may still have some issues.

Beta Installation and Flexibility

For those comfortable with beta software, the iOS 18.1 RC beta is available through both public and developer beta programs. By signing up, you'll also get early access to future beta releases like iOS 18.2, which promises new features, including the customizable Genmoji.

If you decide to switch back, returning to the public version of iOS 18.1 is easy once it is officially released. This flexibility lets users enjoy early access without a long-term commitment to potential beta bugs. For detailed instructions on downloading and installing the iOS 18.1 public beta, refer to Apple's official beta guide.
