THz interconnect startup AttoTude has secured $50 million in Series B funding to advance its high-speed, low-power communication tech tailored for AI and hyperscale data centers. The round was led by Mayfield, with continued support from Sutter Hill Ventures, Canaan Partners, and Wing Venture Capital.

This new capital brings AttoTude’s total funding to $91 million, building on a $30 million Series A and an $11 million seed round completed in 2024. Valuation details were not disclosed.

Addressing bottlenecks in AI-era infrastructure

AttoTude is aiming to solve one of the biggest technical hurdles in modern data center design: the limitations of conventional interconnects under the weight of AI-driven compute demands.

"Our THz platform represents a paradigm shift that solves critical bandwidth, power, and reliability challenges. With Mayfield's support, we're accelerating commercialization to meet the explosive demand from AI and hyperscale data center providers."

Its proprietary technology delivers THz-level performance over standard wire—eliminating the need for photonics—by using standard ASIC manufacturing processes.

The result is a scalable interconnect that maintains high data throughput (up to 40 meters) with better energy efficiency and reliability at a competitive cost.

Scaling up for commercialization

The new funding will help AttoTude ramp up manufacturing and accelerate product development as it prepares for volume production. The company is also expanding its work with leading hyperscale and AI infrastructure companies currently testing its technology.

"We're witnessing a fundamental reimagining of data center architectures driven by AI, creating an urgent need for breakthrough interconnect solutions. AttoTude's radical innovation in THz technology represents the kind of step-function advancement that occurs once in a decade in the semiconductor industry. We're excited to partner with Dave Welch, Joy Laskar, and their world-class team to bring this transformative technology to market."

AttoTude plans to deepen those engagements while investing in the resources needed to support commercial deployment at scale.

A startup with deep roots in hardware innovation

Founded in 2024, AttoTude is led by serial entrepreneur and optical networking veteran Dave Welch, co-founder of Infinera and former CTO of SDL. He co-founded the company with Joy Laskar, a former professor at Georgia Tech and founder of five previous startups in RF and semiconductor technologies.

Headquartered in Menlo Park, California, AttoTude is carving out a new lane in interconnect innovation by combining THz radio design with traditional chip manufacturing, avoiding the costly and complex optics that dominate current high-speed connections.

Investors

Mayfield leads the Series B round and joins a returning group of early investors who have backed AttoTude since its early stages: Sutter Hill Ventures, Canaan Partners, and Wing Venture Capital.– Navin Chaddha, Managing Partner, Mayfield

With a clear path to commercialization and growing interest from data center operators, AttoTude appears poised to become a key player in AI infrastructure’s next chapter.
