A start-up from Ghent called Squire has created smart software to help general practitioners (GPs) with their paperwork. This tool uses artificial intelligence (AI) to create reports for each patient visit, saving doctors a lot of time. With less time spent on forms, GPs can focus more on their patients.
Every time a GP sees a patient, they must write a report called SOEP (Subjective, Objective, Evaluation, and Plan). This includes detailed information about the patient and their diagnosis. Squire’s software automatically organizes this information and uses codes that make it easier to keep track of patient records.
“Considering that a GP completes an average of 20 to 30 consultations a day, you can imagine that preparing these reports takes up a huge amount of time. With Squire and the power of artificial intelligence, we want to help turn this tide.”
Stan Callewaert, Squire’s CEO
With more patients needing care and fewer doctors available, tools like Squire can make a big difference.
Squire’s software listens to what happens during a patient’s visit and creates a draft report for the GP to check and approve. It also adds important medical codes automatically, making the reports more accurate and useful.
Doctors in Flanders are already using Squire’s software in clinics and after-hours health centers. Right now, it is free for all Flemish GPs to try.
“The software supports me in preparing consultation reports. The platform is constantly being developed based on feedback from doctors like me, which only enhances efficiency in my practice.”

Squire is backed by Entourage, a company that invests in new businesses.
“Today, doctors spend a significant portion of their time on administrative tasks, and we have rarely seen such rapid technological adoption in healthcare as AI copilots.
Squire is excellently positioned to become a category-defining player in the European healthtech sector, with the potential to radically transform healthcare.”Entourage’s founder, Pieterjan Bouten
Entourage provides both money and advice to help Squire grow. With their help, Squire plans to improve the software further and make it work with other systems GPs already use. They also aim to expand to other countries and adapt the tool for nurses and specialists in the future.
With support from Entourage, Squire is working to make healthcare better for doctors and patients. They are focusing on improving their tool and expanding it so more healthcare professionals can use it to save time.
