Audere, a digital health non-profit focused on advancing health equity, has partnered with Fionet Inc. to deliver AI-powered HealthPulse™ solutions in Rwanda. The integrated platform, embedded within the Fionet Suite, is designed to empower over 50,000 community health workers (CHWs) and enhance healthcare services at over 1,000 Health Posts across the country.

Rwanda’s Ministry of Health has already rolled out the joint solution to 2,000 CHWs across 800 villages in four of Rwanda's five provinces, with a countrywide scale-up planned over the next 12 months.

Improving diagnostics with artificial intelligence

Fionet Suite combines guided case management, mobile electronic medical records (EMR), point-of-care testing, and large-scale data capture to create a digital primary care infrastructure. HealthPulse AI is integrated into the platform's point-of-care testing module, ensuring reliable and accurate diagnostic results for various tests.

“To partner with the Rwanda Ministry of Health is to partner with excellence in many forms—their vision, knowhow, talent, and dedication made them leaders. We thank Audere for making outstanding AI practical for primary care.”

Dr. Michael Greenberg, Founder and CEO of Fionet

Scaling AI solutions for community health workers

In parallel with Fionet’s implementation, Audere and Jhpiego collaborated on a study in Rwanda to assess the benefits of AI in supporting CHWs performing malaria rapid diagnostic tests. The results were promising: HealthPulse AI improved CHW ability to detect faint lines by 72%, and also identified 9% of CHWs needing additional supervision, enabling more targeted support.

"We are privileged to work with Fionet and a progressive Ministry of Health to scale AI solutions in Rwanda. Through AI, we are delivering a powerful quality assurance tool that offers actionable insights for rapid test usage, along with valuable support for frontline health workers."

Dr. Dino Rech, CEO of Audere

AI for quality assurance and healthcare strengthening

With the Ministry of Health’s support, Fionet and Audere have integrated HealthPulse AI into the Fionet Suite, providing CHWs, health posts, and facility-based professionals with AI-driven diagnostic support. The AI-powered platform aims to improve diagnostic accuracy, enable effective disease surveillance, and support supervision processes, ultimately strengthening Rwanda’s healthcare system.
