Boston-based startup Remark has secured $16 million in Series A funding to scale its AI personas trained by real product experts. The round was led by Inspired Capital and included backing from Stripe, Neo, Spero Ventures, Shine Capital, and Visible Ventures. This latest investment brings the company’s total raised to $27 million.

Remark is taking a new approach to AI in e-commerce — one that puts human knowledge at the center. Its technology transforms insights from more than 60,000 product experts into always-on AI advisors, helping brands replicate the effectiveness of in-store sales associates in an online setting.

Bridging the Gap Between E-commerce and Expertise

Despite massive investments in online retail infrastructure, digital storefronts have struggled to recreate the kind of expert guidance that drives conversions in physical stores. Remark addresses this gap by embedding AI advisors directly into brand websites — each trained on the unique tone, preferences, and know-how of professionals like Olympic athletes, estheticians, stylists, and parents.

Unlike general-purpose chatbots, these personas provide context-aware, human-like recommendations that feel more like a real conversation than a scripted response. Shoppers using Remark’s system experience a 28% conversion rate, compared to the typical online average of just 1.5%.

“We believe AI should elevate the human experience, not replace it. By working with real product experts to train AI personas, we’re creating guidance that’s trusted, helpful, and deeply personal.”

Scaling the Personal Touch with New Investment

The fresh capital will fuel expansion into additional verticals, including health, beauty, apparel, and outdoor gear — categories where shoppers often seek personalized guidance. Remark also plans to grow its expert network and refine the systems that train and deploy its personas.

A key focus will be improving onboarding and analytics tools, making it easier for brands to launch new AI personas and track performance in real time. The company is building systems that help brands adapt quickly to evolving consumer preferences while keeping the guidance authentic and relevant.

Built on Human Knowledge, Backed by Results

Founded in 2022, Remark has already established itself as a standout player in AI commerce. The company’s platform is used by more than 60 brands and has delivered a 4x increase in revenue year-over-year. Its customer retention rate sits at 100%, and net dollar retention is nearly 130%.

By combining human insight with scalable AI, Remark has helped brands generate tens of millions in new revenue while reducing customer service costs by over $3.2 million. Its results highlight a growing demand for tech that feels personal — and works.

“They’ve created an entirely new category of AI-native commerce, one that blends real human expertise with scalable technology. Remark is proving that this model not only improves the shopping experience, but also directly drives business results.”

Backing from Investors Who Understand AI and Commerce

In addition to Inspired Capital, the Series A attracted participation from Stripe, Neo, Spero Ventures, Shine Capital, and Visible Ventures — a group known for backing forward-thinking tech companies.

This latest round builds on previous investment and reflects growing confidence in Remark’s model, which blends subject-matter expertise with AI to deliver measurable results at scale.
