Siemens, in collaboration with Microsoft, is developing the Industrial Foundation Model (IFM) using the Azure platform. The IFM aims to transform human-machine collaboration by enhancing productivity, efficiency, and quality throughout the industrial value chain.
This model processes and contextualizes 3D models, 2D drawings, industrial data, and technical specifications, providing data-driven recommendations.
The IFM promises faster AI adoption, helps address skilled workforce shortages, and improves operational excellence.
Siemens and Audi have reached a significant milestone by introducing virtual Programmable Logic Controllers (vPLCs) at Audi’s Böllinger Höfe factory. Unlike traditional hardware controllers, these vPLCs operate remotely from data centers.
Siemens became the first company worldwide to receive a safety certification for vPLC technology from Germany’s TÜV technical inspection association, validating their leading position.
