Meta has launched a standalone AI app powered by its latest Llama 4 model, aiming to offer a more personalized and socially integrated experience. The app introduces features like voice-first interaction, a Discover feed for sharing AI interactions, and seamless integration with Meta's ecosystem, including Ray-Ban smart glasses.

Meta's new AI app is designed to provide a more personalized experience by leveraging data from users' Facebook and Instagram profiles. This integration allows the AI to offer responses that are more relevant to individual users' interests and preferences. Users can also instruct the AI to remember specific details, enhancing the personalization over time.
A standout feature of the app is its voice-first interface, which employs full-duplex speech technology. This allows for more natural, back-and-forth conversations without the typical pauses found in traditional voice assistants. Currently, this feature is available in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
The app introduces a Discover feed where users can share their AI interactions, explore how others are using the AI, and remix shared prompts. This feature aims to create a community around AI usage, making it more accessible and engaging for users.
Meta's AI app is integrated with its suite of products, including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger. It also serves as the new companion app for Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, allowing users to start a conversation on their glasses and continue it on the app or web.
The web version of the AI assistant has been upgraded to include voice interactions and the Discover feed. It also offers improved image generation tools with customizable options for style, mood, lighting, and colors. In select regions, Meta is testing a document editor that allows users to create and export content as PDFs.
