Plexus, the AI-driven legal automation platform, has secured over $6 million in funding to accelerate its international expansion and further develop its AI capabilities. The round was led by existing shareholders alongside Seattle-based Lighter Capital, marking Plexus’ first institutional funding partnership.
This injection of capital aims to support global market entry, expand the company’s product capabilities, and attract top-tier talent to drive the next phase of growth. The strategic decision to partner with Lighter Capital followed interest from several investment firms, with the team selecting Lighter for its deep experience in scaling SaaS companies.
Plexus is tapping into a legal industry ripe for transformation. Valued at $1.1 trillion, the legal sector has traditionally relied on manual workflows. Plexus founder and CEO Andrew Mellett believes that is quickly changing.
“We’re witnessing a once-in-a-generation shift: from tracking legal work to getting it done automatically and intelligently.”

Already working with major global brands like Nike, L’Oréal, PepsiCo, Woolworths, AIA, and The Iconic, Plexus helps in-house teams manage contract review, compliance, and approvals with increased speed and reduced risk.
The new funds will be directed toward accelerating product development, with a strong focus on AI capabilities. As legal workloads grow in complexity, Plexus is advancing from task automation to what it calls “digital lawyers”—tools that help business teams operate with speed and confidence.
Additionally, Plexus plans to enter more international markets, using the capital to expand its reach and support enterprise customers with modern legal infrastructure.
Founded by Andrew Mellett, Plexus positions itself as the “Legal OS” for enterprise teams. Its all-in-one platform allows legal departments to scale operations without scaling headcount. Used by more than 250 organizations, Plexus claims to deliver up to 60% productivity gains and reduce manual workloads by 25%.
The company is building what Mellett describes as “the platform in-house legal teams didn’t know they needed, but won’t be able to live without.”
Lighter Capital, known for non-dilutive financing, led the latest funding round.
“Plexus was a perfect fit for Lighter Capital’s model. Automation in the legal space is one of the fastest-growing sectors in B2B SaaS, and Plexus is in a great position to capture more of the market.”
