Harrison.ai, a leading global healthtech company specializing in AI-powered medical diagnostics, has raised $112 million in a Series C funding round to accelerate its expansion into the United States. The investment will also support the company’s continued growth across the UK, EMEA, and APAC markets. This funding round ranks among the largest in the medical AI space in the past year.

The round was co-led by Aware Super, ECP, and Horizons Ventures, with additional participation from Australia’s National Reconstruction Fund Corporation (NRFC), Ord Minnett, Wollemi Capital Group, and existing investors like Blackbird Ventures and Alpha JWC Ventures. With this latest investment, Harrison.ai’s total capital raised now exceeds $240 million.

Addressing the global clinician shortage with AI

As healthcare systems worldwide grapple with a shortage of skilled professionals, Harrison.ai’s AI-driven tools are designed to increase clinician capacity, enhance operational efficiency, and improve early disease diagnosis.

Currently, 1.5 million skilled clinicians are needed globally, and in the United States, there are just 11 radiologists per 100,000 people, according to the Association of American Medical Colleges. More than two-thirds of the world’s pathologists are concentrated in only 10 countries. This disparity in medical resources makes AI-powered diagnostics a critical solution to improving healthcare access.

“The growing demand for equitable and effective healthcare calls for advanced systems like AI to enhance human diagnostics and address disparities in access to care. Harrison.ai meets this need by developing clinical-grade AI models designed to improve capacity. We look forward to bringing our life-saving technology to healthcare systems in the U.S. and continuing our expansion across the globe.”

Expanding AI-powered diagnostic solutions

Harrison.ai’s technology assists clinicians in detecting signs of cancer and other serious illnesses earlier by analyzing CT scans, X-rays, and pathology slides. Its solutions have already demonstrated significant impact, particularly in early lung cancer detection.

Radiologists using Harrison.ai’s AI-driven tools have achieved a 45% increase in diagnostic accuracy. Studies indicate that its AI for chest radiography could have enabled 32% of lung cancer cases to be diagnosed an average of 16 months earlier. Additionally, the technology has increased the proportion of treatable-stage cancer detections by over 26%.

The company’s radiology solution, Annalise.ai, is currently used by 1 in 2 radiologists in Australia and processes scans for over 131 public hospitals and 45 Trusts in the UK. It also powers all CT Brain scans in Hong Kong’s public A&E system and was recently selected by Denmark’s public healthcare system.

Harrison.ai’s growing footprint in the U.S.

As part of its expansion, Harrison.ai is establishing a North American headquarters in Boston to focus on scaling U.S. operations and growing its customer base. The company has already achieved 12 FDA clearances, with one of its CT Brain AI algorithms receiving FDA Breakthrough Device Designation and Medicare reimbursement approval through the New Technology Add-on Payment (NTAP) program.

Additionally, Harrison.ai has developed Harrison.rad.1, a vision-language AI model for radiology, which is now accessible to researchers, industry partners, and regulators. The company has also been invited to participate in the Healthcare AI Challenge hosted by Mass General Brigham, alongside Microsoft, OpenAI, and Google, to assess AI applications in healthcare.
