Vellum, an enterprise AI development platform, has secured $20 million in Series A funding to help organizations build reliable, production-ready AI products. The round was led by Leaders Fund, with Socii Capital, Y Combinator, Rebel Fund, Pioneer Fund, and Eastlink Capital also participating.
This investment will enable Vellum to advance its product innovation and expand into new markets. Leaders Fund, known for its expertise in enterprise go-to-market strategy, is expected to play a key role in supporting Vellum’s global growth and customer reach.
While generative AI has captivated industries, many companies still struggle to move beyond prototypes to scalable, dependable solutions. A recent Pluralsight study revealed that 54% of organizations lack a comprehensive AI strategy, and many operate with immature data systems.
“Generative AI has captured the imagination of nearly every industry, but turning that potential into reliable, production-ready systems remains a massive challenge. For many teams, it still feels like guesswork. Vellum changes that. We provide the infrastructure that brings rigor, predictability, and repeatability to AI development, so teams can build with confidence and scale with clarity.”
Akash Sharma, Vellum’s co-founder and CEO
With the new funds, Vellum plans to further enhance its platform capabilities and accelerate its go-to-market initiatives. Expanding internationally is a key focus, and the team aims to make Vellum the standard for AI development across industries.
The company’s end-to-end platform brings together model orchestration, testing, deployment, and monitoring—enabling teams to create reliable, explainable AI workflows. This approach has already proven critical in regulated industries, where compliance and accuracy are non-negotiable.
Founded to tackle the challenges of moving AI out of the prototype phase, Vellum equips teams with a centralized platform that combines a visual builder, robust testing tools, version control, and live monitoring. This helps both engineers and non-technical staff collaborate effectively while ensuring consistent results.
The platform’s tools include a workflow builder and SDK for mapping AI logic, an evaluation suite for identifying failures before deployment, and real-time observability for continuous improvement. Updates and new versions can be safely rolled out without disrupting operations, even in complex environments.
Vellum has already gained traction among enterprises like Drata, Swisscom, Redfin, and Headspace, who use its platform to power AI initiatives such as automated customer support, secure data extraction, and content generation.
At Drata, for example, Vellum enables scalable AI workflows across thousands of customer environments, balancing speed and compliance.
“Vellum has been a force multiplier for our AI efforts; their test-driven approach helps us catch regressions early and iterate quickly. In a space where accuracy and security assurance are critical, Vellum gives us the infrastructure to move fast without compromising performance.”
Lior Solomon, VP of Engineering at Drata
The Series A follows earlier backing from Y Combinator, Rebel Fund, Pioneer Fund, and Eastlink Capital, bringing Vellum’s total funding to $24.5 million to date. Leaders Fund, which has helped scale several enterprise software companies to $100M+ ARR, joins as a strategic partner to guide Vellum through its next stage of growth.
“Most large organizations developing AI applications are stuck in the prototype phase. Vellum’s platform meets the moment, solving the core challenges that slow AI development: maintaining reliability, accelerating iteration, and enabling collaboration.”
