Moonvalley, the AI research company specializing in professional-grade generative videography, has raised an additional $84 million, led by existing investor General Catalyst. This new round includes strategic backing from Creative Artists Agency (CAA), AI infrastructure provider CoreWeave, and Comcast Ventures. Existing investors Khosla Ventures and YCombinator also participated, bringing Moonvalley’s total funding to $154 million.
The new investment emphasizes an industry-wide move toward AI platforms that respect intellectual property rights. Major studios and global brands are increasingly favoring AI companies that develop high-quality models while supporting creators' rights, steering away from platforms built on unlicensed material.
Moonvalley’s CEO and co-founder, Naeem Talukdar, highlighted the significance of this funding round, stating, “This funding proves you don’t have to choose between powerful technology and responsible development. We’re building world-class models while respecting the creative community, and these partners will help us give studios and creators a real alternative to unlicensed models.”
Moonvalley’s recently launched Marey is the first production-grade AI generative videography platform designed specifically for professional filmmakers and visionary brands. Developed in collaboration with its filmmaking division, Asteria—led by Bryn Mooser—Marey offers cinematic quality, precise creative control, and outputs suitable for commercial production.
Moonvalley plans to use the new funding to expand its licensed content library, develop API access tailored for developers and internal platform teams, and introduce new features requested by studio and enterprise partners. Additionally, Moonvalley aims to grow its engineering and support teams to manage larger enterprise-scale deployments.
“Our research team is solving the hardest problems in video AI, from understanding real-world physics and natural motion to giving filmmakers frame-level control,” explained Mateusz Malinowski, Chief Scientific Officer at Moonvalley. “We’re proving that licensed models can deliver the quality and precision that professional productions demand.”
Allison Goldberg, Managing Partner of Comcast Ventures, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership: “We have the exciting opportunity to strategically partner with companies like Moonvalley, who are developing breakthrough advancements in media and technology. Moonvalley’s approach to generative videography combining technical excellence with respect for content creators aligns with how we think about innovation in our industry.”
Alexandra Shannon, Head of Strategic Development at CAA, added, “Ethically led and talent-friendly applications of AI are a top priority for CAA. Moonvalley understands that AI should empower artists, not undermine them, and we are excited to help bring this new technology to our clients and the entertainment community at large.”
CoreWeave’s Co-Founder and Chief Development Officer, Brannin McBee, noted the practical benefits of their collaboration: “CoreWeave is proud to support Moonvalley as demand accelerates for foundational AI video models and tools. Our infrastructure helps Moonvalley scale its commercially safe model to meet growing demand from studios and enterprises seeking powerful, legally compliant AI video solutions.”
Founded by a diverse group of experts previously from DeepMind, Google, Meta, Microsoft, TikTok, Disney, and DreamWorks, Moonvalley specializes in advancing visual intelligence. The company collaborates closely with film studios, production companies, and brands, emphasizing responsible AI practices that respect artists' and creators' rights.
