ANAFLASH, a Silicon Valley-based pioneer in low-power edge computing, has acquired Legato Logic’s time-based compute-in-memory technologies and industry veterans. This move is designed to speed up progress toward battery-powered intelligent sensors by combining two powerful approaches to edge AI. In simpler terms, ANAFLASH’s existing non-volatile memory expertise merges with Legato’s time-based AI, aiming to make sensors more efficient and less dependent on continuous power.

ANAFLASH has been part of the Berkeley SkyDeck Fund’s chip track portfolio since 2019, while Legato Logic joined the same program in 2021.

This partnership underscores a larger industry shift toward embedding AI in devices directly at the edge—meaning less data transfer to the cloud and faster, more efficient processing. By pooling their resources, ANAFLASH and Legato Logic aim to serve a broad range of customers who want smarter sensors and ultra-low-power AI solutions.
With the acquisition, Shahrzad Naraghi, CEO and co-founder of Legato Logic, joins ANAFLASH as Chief Technology Officer.

Both companies have made strides in patenting their innovations. ANAFLASH received a U.S. patent for its serialized neural network techniques, while Legato Logic filed multiple patents around its time-based MAC (multiply-accumulate) engines. These new technological foundations pave the way for smaller, faster, and more energy-efficient AI solutions at the edge.
