Leap Financial, a Miami-based fintech startup, has raised $3.5 million in seed funding to scale its AI-powered financial solutions. This marks a significant milestone for the company, which focuses on transforming cross-border payments for underserved communities.
The funding round was led by Fuel Venture Capital, with additional participation from Ascendo Venture Capital. This investment highlights strong confidence in Leap Financial’s innovative approach to the remittance and embedded payment industry.
The valuation was not disclosed, but the backing by reputable investors signals the startup’s growth potential.
Leap Financial operates at the intersection of fintech and artificial intelligence, focusing on a pressing global issue: the inefficiency and high cost of traditional cross-border money transfers. The platform targets disparities in the financial system, particularly affecting immigrants and low-income individuals.
"Leap was founded to help immigrants overcome disparity and change the 100-year-old ways that allow incumbents to take significant cuts for basic financial services."
Lionel Carrasco, CEO and Co-Founder of Leap Financial
By leveraging AI, Leap’s solutions reduce remittance costs from an industry average of 6–10% to under 1%, making financial services more accessible and equitable.
Leap plans to channel the newly raised funds into scaling its AI-enhanced technology and expanding its partnerships, particularly with established players like Mastercard.
A key focus will be developing Leap’s Native AI super agent, Lola, to enable financial institutions to provide personalized and efficient services at scale.
Additionally, the funds will support talent acquisition, particularly in AI and compliance roles, to ensure that the platform remains both innovative and secure. Leap also aims to explore new markets and customer segments, furthering its mission of creating a global, seamless financial ecosystem.
Founded in Miami by Lionel Carrasco and Marcela Henao, Leap Financial is committed to redefining cross-border payments through AI-driven embedded financial services. The company’s platform integrates digital methods to deliver remittances directly to wallets and debit cards, cutting out costly intermediaries and increasing transparency.
Leap Financial's innovative approach is supported by partnerships with federal banks and Mastercard, enabling frictionless compliance and anti-money laundering measures.
By making remittances faster, cheaper, and more secure, Leap is creating an ecosystem that is resilient to bad actors and empowers immigrants to support their families.
